Dude! Someone Created Beer that Glitters!
Here's something that's going to break the hearts of a lot of old fashioned beer drinkers, and probably delight all those millennials super into pink gin and even pinker cocktails: It's glitter beer, and while it could be considered an abomination by some, we have to admit that it's pretty damn gorgeous. Plus all that glitter doesn't show up in your urine, which means it'll be a part of your sparkling personality forever.
Munchies picked up on the various glitter beers, which are now being produced by multiple beer makers, including Bold Missy Brewery in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Two Birds Brewing in Australia.
The former brewery takes its inspiration for glitter beer from Lisa Frank, the woman who created that line of whacked-out and crazy-colorful school supplies that your older sister had in the '90s (but never let you use, thanks for nothing Nicole!).

Two Birds' glittery brew on the other hand was inspired by none other than David Bowie's alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. Two Birds co-owner Jayne Lewis wrote on Instagram that the brew has been dubbed the "Stardust IPA" and is "served... with a little added stardust!"
We have to admit Bowie probably would've loved it. Wherever you are in the universe right now, know that we love you, Thin White Duke!

As far as the logistics of glitter beer are concerned, the brewers promise you won't have anything to worry about. The glitter is made out of what's commonly known as "luster dust," or sometimes "pearl dust," and is perfectly safe for consumption. It also breaks down in your system, so you don't have to worry about squirting or plopping out any Unicorn-looking liquids or solids.
As Munchies notes, glitter beer has been done before, with both of these brewers crediting Weavers brewmaster Alex Nowell’s glittery IPA — dubbed Mel’s Sparkle Pony — as the inspiration for their own twinkling suds. Plus there was also Viniq, which was a glittering liqueur. We say "was," because Viniq went out of business. But who knows, maybe glitter will do better with beer drinkers — we think millennials will get down with just about anything that's shiny. Well, except for Viniq, apparently.
If you're desperate to try some kind of glittery booze but don't think you'll be able to get your hands on either of the shimmering beers above, try out one of the super glittery cocktails posted below.
